A job search is dozens of email threads at once. Keeping a spreadsheet in sync with all of them becomes a second job, and the sheet falls behind.

Don't ask people to type. The app reads Gmail, finds the job emails, and builds the board itself: one editable card per application, with the original email attached.

Full-stack development: the Gmail scan, the AI classification and the caching. Gemini generated the interface design.

I built and tested it with my own inbox and presented the working beta at Index Chinatown. Classification results are cached, so later scans skip emails already processed. That cuts both time and token use.

THE PROBLEM

Most people still manage their job search manually. They update spreadsheets, search through old emails, and constantly reconstruct the current status of each application.

THE INSIGHT

Gmail is already the source of truth. Instead of asking people to enter the same information again, the product should turn incoming emails into editable job cards.

THE SOLUTION

Job Tracker converts job-related emails into a visual workspace. Each application becomes a card that can be reviewed, edited, and moved through the hiring process.

HOW IT WORKS

By scanning email inbox with Gmail API. GPT-4O-MINI will read, understand and extract the relevant job information. Generate an editable card.

Integrated with emails

By keeping the original email connected to each card, users can always return to the context behind an application without copy & paste the key words.

THE OUTCOME

I built and tested Job Tracker with real inbox data, iterated on the Gmail scanning flow, and presented the working beta at Index Chinatown.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Classification results are cached in the database, allowing future scans to skip previously processed emails and reduce both processing time and token usage.
